The recycling centre's around this way won't let you have / buy old cycles for "health and safety" grounds !! I then tried just purchase a frame without the wheels on and got the same answer. Try and take one out of the bin and they will do you for theft !

my winter bike frame was bought from the lbs. although not technically a skip bike, it would have remained in the lbs' cavernous cellar for eternity had it not been exactly what i needed, as it would not have been economically viable for the shop to build it back up again.

I have an old Gemini from a skip, it's basically an 80s version of the worst apollo you can buy from Halfruads. and I LOVE it. because it's so bad, it's also painted bright orange with lots of fade, so people give you queer looks =]
