It often strikes me as amusing that although birdsong can sound so lovely, all they're "saying" really is "GET LOST, THIS IS MY PATCH AND MY FOOD AND BY THE WAY I WANT A SH@G"
I too have noticed birds singing in the early morning, that hour or so before it gets light, I have been wondering if there is a bit of spring confusion going on with the unseasonally mild conditions. Was watching a great tit exploring a nest box the other day.
And take a look at this picture I took last week at St Abbs head, I know gorse can flower a little in autumn, but this looks more like an April day.
