I used the Viamichelin map to plan a cycling journey, but I have two questions: is Blackpool really only 72km from Salford shopping centre?
And when it says "towards M61" etc, it doesn't mean actually on the motorway does it? Because if so, then obviously the route is no good. But I did click the box for "bike". This is the route details:

Can't comment on most of it, but it takes a bit of an odd route through Preston...

The annual manchester-blackpool bike ride is nominally 60mi long, so 72 k sounds about right, considering you are starting in Salford rather than the city centre and probably going more directly. I can't remember the route the M-B ride uses.

Id definetly not on the motorway you are on the A6053 at that point and turn onto the A575
