This was a new one for me. Waiting in the refuge island, having crossed the Westbound lane of the A47 on the way home this morning. Left leg down, right foot still in the toeclip, not 100% compos-mentis having just finished a night shift.
Approaching from the left is an artic, not exactly hammering it, 45-50mph max I'd estimate, with a short shipping container on a flat-bed behind him. Passes me, and the pressure wave at the front of the tractor unit damn near blows me over onto my right side. A swift whip of the right foot out of it's toeclip saved me, but I was left bemused. I've sat there many times before waiting to cross and have been passed by trucks and can't remember copping a blast this fierce. Mebbes I was juts half asleep?
