I was going to highlight this too cubist, I have the comp and it cost me £600 (50 off for it being display model) so was pretty sure he got the range mixed up price-wise. But correct on the reasoning, the comp almost the same for way cheaper so to me was a no brainer.

The extra £200 is ideal for kitting yourself out with better clobber for riding in offering a great experience instead of just a bike.

I originally looked for a team carbon in the large size - (couldn't find one anywhere(, but wasnt entirely sure that this was the right size - used this website which was excellent - www.competitivecyclist.com which pointed me towards a medium, managed to find one in stock in Maidstone who would build it that day and I could collect it next day - the size is perfect and it flies ( I have done 3 rides of 50, 52, and 68 miles around kent with an average speed of 17.9). Halfords in Maidstone were excellent, gear changes are smooth and it was well put together. I am pretty sure that I saw another team carbon on their display stands - not sure what size though....overall well pleased - (I had also tried a couple of other bikes from my LBS as I had wanted to buy through them, including a trek madone, but the team carbon felt significantly better)....;)

Hi, talking from personal experience, I'm on my second Team Carbon Road, (the first was a shocker and to put it bluntly I told Halfords where they could shove it so they ordered me up a replacement from the factory) it's a fantastic bit of kit for the money. Based on the spec £ for £ you just can't beat it and it's a great ride.
A couple of things to look out for are the size, I was originally going to order a large but having been measured up at a proper bike shop I was sized up for a Trek 1.9 and it was the 56cm model that was spot on, when you look at top tube etc on the Boardman's it's the medium that comes in at pretty much the exact size of a Trek 56 not the large as you might expect, I think it's the sloping top tube on the Boardman that's miss leading making the seat post shorter.
Secondly is the bike assembly/setup, my local Halfords just couldn't setup the SRAM, no matter how many attempts they had they couldn't get it right. I gave up eventually and booked the bike into a local specialist shop "Ken Fosters Cycle Logic" in Chorlton and for £25.00 including vat and lube they did a full setup on it, as if it was one of their own bikes and since then it's ridden like a dream, the difference was amazing. They also pointed out there was no grease whatsoever in the bottom bracket, it was completely dry, now this isn't Halfords fault as such because the Boardman's arrive in a massive box fully built from the factory, the store really only need to put air in the tyres and check it over. This would have lead to a very short life for the BB.
My advise would be whatever you buy from Halfords take it straight to a LBS for a full check and setup, best £25 you'll spend. P.S I was on Halfords cycle to work scheme so had no choice but to buy from them. Good luck!
