Has anyone got or considered a body cam.
I don't have one. Is it a reasonable thing in respect of personal safety?

For generally walking around? Not where I live.

Just like a helmet-cam, it won’t keep you safe from harm but might be useful in identifying someone who does you harm.

Do you feel you need one?

I have been looking at some offers on one on Groupon

I don;t want a helmet cam because it adds height to my helemt and I have enough problems banging it on low bridges and general foliage as it is

and ones on the bars seems like a good way to get vibrartion

so I was wondering is a body cam would be a good compromise

are they good enough to - for example - identify a car that has close passed you - I suspect not

and would they identify someone who decided to come over shout if they decided I was a cyclist and therefore needed to shouting at


or are they not good enough unless you spend a load of money anyway??

It won't make you any safer. There's a small chance it might assist in identifying an offender after theyve filled you in though.

I have one, it's cheap and cheerful, but does the job, I use in on naturists walks as a just in case of confrontation with the public and police.
Normally we would cover up if we see people out walking more so if we see children, but sometime we don't more so if we are in a heavly wooded area, in most cases we just say hello and nice day, but we do get the odd one and with photo and voice is out insurance if things go wrong, so far so good.

I've never considered one for my bike or my body. Why go out with the faint expectation that something or somebody is going to do something unpleasant to you? A course of Prozac would be an alternative.

Look for one with image stabilisation which stops vibration being an issue. Most modern action cameras have it by default and my Cycliq Fly 12 does as well.
