Bontrager Tube Tops

With my new bike the LBS gave me these to put on the cables where they will rub (as well as taping the spots on the frame):

"They have a slit in them so you can just pop them onto the cables" I was told, but they don't have slits!

Am I supposed to cut slits in them or are they designed to be slid onto the cable from a disconnected end?

you have to disconnect the cable and slide them on

Tbf, they have put tape on all the spots where cables will rub, plus on the crank arms etc. The owner just handed me these as I went out as an after thought.

I will take a look at what's involved to see if it is within my noviceness to put them on. Would be straight forward on an MTB so perhaps I am being too cautious.
