Really frustrated, had my bike in my LBS for nearly 2 1/2 weeks now waiting for a new BB, apparantly its a funny size so needed to be ordered in, just so anoying not being able to get out. My bike is a Merida Cyclocross 3 2010, they are hoping the new bit will be in on Monday, just have to keep fingers crossed it arrives!

Changing a modern BB is simplicity itself. Best learn to do it yourself because you can bet that the right size will be available from some mail-order place within a couple of days.

Petes right.

About £10 for a tool and bottom brackets are £15-30 depending on the spec. Well worth learning to do it yourself, and double that definatly for bikes that are going to get dirty often, like mountain bikes and cyclo-cross.

How much are the LBS charging - and what spec of BB is it?
