Boundary disputes (property, not cricket)

When my neighbours wished to demolish and rebuild along the boundary I put a string line on the original boundary that we both agreed to and then that was the line the builders worked to.
With hind sight I had lost a couple of inches at the far end but that was a lot better then a dispute.
