Some of us early evening posters love bread sauce. Absolutley and unconditionally.

Can't rememeber the last time I had it though.

And some of us 'random throught the day but mostly late evening posters' as well...

I love bread sauce.

Ooh, yes please. But not the Colemans gruel, it's gotta be home made. Preferably by my Aunt Minna. (I expect she'll be in bed by now, and is deaf as a post so she would just nod and smile if we asked her, then shout loudly about the weather just to appear to be joining in)

I would recommend that all bread sauce lovers also add 'creeshie mealie' to their recipe list for Christmas Day :becool::biggrin:

Fried oatmeal? Recipe please! (does it taste of onion and cloves though?)

It's also known as Skirlie.

There's not much to it and I can hardly claim a 'recipe', but it is superb!

4oz Lard
Onion, fined chopped
2 cups oatmeal
salt and pepper

melt lard, throw in onion until soft, stir in oatmeal and stir in for about 10/15 minutes, add seasoning.

How simple is that!?

Is that like a Mealie Jim? Another one of those traditional family roast dinner accompaniments that I have a mental block against eating.
