All of the exchanges that centre around you say they have plenty of options.

The other thing I'd say about fibre is it's worth doing a bit of research to see whether there are any start up companies/collaborations doing any fibre. Round here there's a partnership doing fibre optics to supposedly the non-cabled areas and a few others, they are putting in the tubing to right now round here and will put in fibre later. I'd imagine my county isn't the only one doing this. There's next to no publicity about it though, I only knew about it by actually seeing them dig up the road and rumours.

I'm currently getting 6.14 Mb/s download, 0.34 Mb/s upload but it is 00:15 when few people are going to be online in these 'ere parts so I won't be sharing the bandwidth with so many others. I'm sure it is slower than that during the day. I'll check it again at lunchtime tomorrow.

Well, late afternoon, actually... 5.28 Mb/s download, 0.36 Mb/s upload.

I'm only about 200 metres from the Hebden Bridge exchange.

I suggest you check out Plusnet I get the exact same Phone package as you with a 10gig monthly Broadband for £17.45

Plusnet are actually owned by BT but their prices are much better.

7.7mps download speed here in Leeds, same upload speed as you.

Good suggestion! £10/month isn't to be sniffed at. Unless someone recommends not swapping to them then I'll look at doing it. Thankyou.

I got the original very high figure from hovering over the icon on the toolbar. Doing the speedtest gives quite different numbers of 2.8 and 0.3 mbps!

I don't rate plusnet at all. I'd go with Be. If you're a very low end user who wants to save money then fair enough.
