Susie has ordered a Brompton. It will be black and have gears, which is all she needs to know. The thing is..............Bromptons are, in essence a Wardrobe Opportunity. It's just a question of what to wear.

I'm thinking black cashmere jumper, plaid skirt, tights by Wolford. Trainers in motion, swapped for ankle boots when the bike is folded (I'll probably be doing the folding).

on cool days, a nice mac might do the trick

Teadresses have been suggested, but they seem to me to be more appropriate to those ghastly dutch bikes with baskets on the front.

What do you think?

+1. It's a bike. I wear the same gear on all of mine.

Look Simon, I am simply disgusted.

How can you be CC's answer to Gok Wan? Surely you should be telling your captive audience that this season't hottest look is x,y and z.

Disappointing.

Wot? I am shocked! I am shocked that you have bought her the bike but did not know! I am even more shocked that none of your friends here told you! With friends like that who needs enemies?

Firstly, the only apparel approved by Brompton is this. Secondly there is a clear official Brompton dress code:
"Dress code All participants, both male and female, must wear a suit jacket, collared shirt and neck tie. Shorts, three-quarter length trousers and skirts may be worn if preferred, though sports attire (e.g. Lycra shorts/leggings, tracksuit pants, etc.) is not permitted. There are no restrictions on shoe-wear. For health and safety reasons, it is an absolute condition of participation that a helmet is worn."

See for yourself!

Y d'ya fink I ride a Dahon?

Here for rides.
A Brompton is a 'slow' bicycle therefore one dresses for the destination not the journey. If the destination requires panache then so be it aboard the B.

very wise Greg-Sensei. Very wise.

But not quite right, and Stu's contribution above, points to the difficulty. You see the sad truth is that many cyclists do not take sufficient care when choosing the outfits to accompany their bikes. There's a woeful lack of co-ordination on the FNRttC which, I am told, will be addressed in 2012. Lippy should tie in with frame colour, and so on.

Mind you, what one wears with a lime and puce Brompton, heaven knows. Perhaps a silk jaquard jumpsuit in lemon yellow and black with diamante shoulder pieces might do the trick.....
