So yesterday I walked Snowdon's Horseshoe route, which I thought was a little bit brutal - But nothing compared to the guys I saw whilst doing it.

At the bottom of Snowdon I noticed lots of cyclists passing with race numbers, figured there must be some sort of race going on. When I reached the top of Snowdon there were quite a few runners up there, also with race numbers.

One of the race officials told me it was all part of a "Brutal Double Ironman" event - 4.8 miles swimming in a freezing lake, 224 miles cycling around the hilly mountain bases, and a 52 mile run including running to the top of Snowdon. All in one go.

They started presumably very early yesterday - the first finisher took 31 hours, with second place coming in 1 hour ago, taking 36 hours!

These people are amazing - Props to them. Anyone here ever done it?

Amazing day for it though. Here's a photo I took from the bottom just before ascending Crib Goch.

Running double marathon distance after all of that is just too impossible for me to get my head around.

That's a great day out HovR and a nice pic. I took my son over Crib Goch and around the horseshoe when he was a lad. It was absolutely fabulous but not for the faint hearted.

I find the endurance that some people have quite amazing. I met a young man and his wife who ran 14 major peaks around the snowdonia area in less than 24 hours. Made me feel quite pathetic.

How these 'iron man' competitors do it is just astounding.
