Well it appears some of these 'instructors' arent fit to teach how to drive!
I was cycling on Porchester Road(for anyone that knows it) on the fixed doing about 23mph and had a learner behind me. Brilliant, these give me oads of room!
The cycle lane comes up(right in the gutter, then moves out and has cars parked on the left of it, car doors often fly open) and i stay out of it as normal. Theres one of those centre crossing things coming up. I turn around to start to move over incase someone decides to pass and the learner is wonting past. She had moved out and was trying to get past(slowly.) I asked what are they doing, i got "theres a cycle lane there" from the instructor, he even pointed at it. He then puts his hand on he steering wheel and turns it so the car comes closer to me :sun:
I asked how much he knew and if he would pull over, but she(the learner) sped up then. Had a slow puncture and was hobbling home.
Sent BSM an email, remember the number plate. Just waiting for a reply.
How can this guy be instructing?
I'm actually waiting for some stuff on the highway code to be sent from them, saying i was in the wrong but they will talk to the driver

Don't suppose you have it on camera?

BSM drivers are effectively self employed, with BSM setting up lessons, taking payments, etc. Trouble is, the standard expected of those who run the offices seems pathetically low; its hard to get them to take complaints seriously, and the most you can expect for this assault (he drove the car at you, thats assault, clearly and obviously) is that he'll be asked not to do it again. That means that while its well worth persuing this complaint, you should also go straight to the police.

I've recently taken a complaint, with footage, to BSM, and next time I'll ignore them entirely and go straight to plod.

You could do a Cunobelin and write off to driving instructors saying you'd forgotten what driving school it was. Otherwise it's the police and making an allegation of bad driving.

:sad:No wonder there are bad drivers out if they are being taught like this.
I've remembered his number plate, pu it at the back of my mind. If i can complain to his company i can always complain to him:evil:
Cant be bothered to complain to the police, it wont go no-where. DVLA was who i thought might be worth a try, maybe not?

Driving Instructors (or at least people driving cars from driving instructors - and I don't mean learner drivers) are some of the worst everyday drivers on the roads in my experience.

British School of Morons. Had a similar incident myself a few years back, instructor hanging out the window saying I should be in the cycle lane (it was one of those divided pavement things and was full of schoolkids). I wouldn't recommend idiots like that to teach anyone to drive.....

I saw one driving instructor recenty (not BSM) who was driving and chatting away on her mobile phone. Learner was sitting right next to her too!

Sadly with their business being arranged such a way it's incredibly common. My driving instructor did use her mobile but wasn't as blatent as some of the others. It is sad in a way as the legislation had already considered this possibility but few seem bothered about losing their work.

They rang up today, wanting to speek with me. Was out on the club ride so my brother took the message, he wanted to know what i had been up to.
Been given a number to ring, so will ring that later when mum gets home(was told to wait till she is home:wacko:) but i'm guessing its just to fill in a complaint form.

Well just to update, mum was talking to her. She has spoke to the person. Apparently on the monday afternoon he contacted the police. To ask if he was in the right. The women never said that he was in the wrong, but hes a driving instructor, he should already know this FFS.
Apparently he didnt touch the steering wheel, and his student will back him up on it, and that he didnt stick his head out the window and say "theres a cycle lane there" he just said, "theres a cycle lane there" to offer me some advice.
And that does appologise if i mistook his actions blah blah blah.
So basicly, its a loose loose situation. But he did mention to her that i called him a nasty name and swore at him
Time wasted? I think so:angry:
But at least the manager spoke to him!

He's yelling at you that theres a cycle lane there, while you're doing above 20mph, and thats the best he can do as an excuse? He thinks that is appropriate behaviour? Get in touch with the manager and explain properly, and request a meeting with both the instructor and his manager to explain further.

I had a BSM instructor fall asleep next to me when I was learning a few years ago - I know I should have reported him but my test was imminent by then and I didn't want to change instructors so late on.
