Buggered Rear Wheel?

After changing the break pads at the weekend I noticed the rear wheel 'catching' as I spun it around. looking more closely I saw that one point the wheel touched the pad on one side while being around 3mm away from the other pad. Moving the wheel on a couple of inches the reverse happened.

I suspect the wheel ever so slightly buckled.

It's a Trek 7.5 with thin road wheels upgraded when I got it.

I don't really want to replace the wheel, being the rear it'll require some effort.

Anyone care to confirm my suspicions?

thanks

It just needs truing. There is plenty of info on websites like Sheldon Brown that show you how to do it yourself, but if you don't fancy that (and even many experienced cyclists don't) any bike shop will have it running straight for you in about ten minutes.

Easy to do yourself if you know what you are doing - not too much from a local bike shop to get fixed - but find out if they are any good though !

Thanks very much for the replies. I'll take it down the LBS then watch how they do it. Next time I'll be ready.

thanks again
