Building a bike

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum.
I have a desire to build or buy a bike which is suited to commuting to places.
I already have

• Avid BB7 brake set + 2: 160mm rotors.
• Cables
• Sr Suntour xcr lo front suspension (235mm steerer)

Now I need to have a light weight frame either a full suspension or hard tail. If I were to build my own.
I need a rear wheel with disc compatibility and a freehub for a 9 speed cassette.
I also need a handle bar, stem, headset, trigger shifter 3x9, 9 speed cassette, 9 speed chain, and a 9 speed chainset, grips, front+rear mech 3x9.
However if possible please suggest a nice light weight bike for commuting within my budget, thank you

Please could you suggest any quality parts at a reasonable price. My total budget is about £500-600.

Yes I have, but I have found there to be a very sparse variety of products to choose from. Many of which are in my budget, but hard to consider as I have only recently started with bikes.

Well why not present us with some of your options and let people advise on them, you will get a much better response if you give people a starting point.

self build is good fun but it will end up costing more than you budgeted for

Well are there any suggestion of any good hardtail bikes? I looked at the voodoo hoodoo from halfords which had alright specs.
But not sure where else to look, as I have checked and most places were in £1000 price range.
Hardest thing to look for was a set of light weight wheels, chainset and frames.

I have found that it is equally satisfying to get an 'off the shelf' ride with a good quality level frame, then peplace and re-equip as funds permit. the advantage is that you have a ride to be getting on with, spare parts to sell as you replace them, and still get exactly the bike you wanted to build in the first place. As a previous post mentioned, a scratch build will almost certainly cost you more than you thought, and it will be up to you to sort out compatability of parts and solve problems along the way. My way, most of all that is taken care of by the manufacturer. I've done it both ways and prefer the 'off the shelf' method. Having said all that, I am in the middle of a scratch build that is a winter project to keep me busy on the long evenings.
