Hi folks Im thinking of buying a new bike [Dawes 201] from this company E-Bikes direct, not the cheapest but availability of new bikes seems to be getting difficult.

Anyone had dealings with them?

Thanks in advance!!

I was looking at them some times ago - they seemed to specialise in slightly out of date versions
In my case they were selling Raleigh Motus's the same as mine 12 months after I got mine - last year's version but probably perfectly good

I presumed at the time that the bought up a job lot from Raleigh at the end of the line so Raleigh could get on with selling the new version

The problem, of course, if whether or not it has been set up properly - but if you are good at mechanical stuff yourself then you should be OK
The other way would be to ask an LBS if they would check it out for you at a reasonable rate and factor that into the cost

Let us know how it goes

I considered buying an e-bike from them over a year ago when I was debating with myself whether to get an e-bike or not. There was no 'hard sell' at all, they answered my questions freely and when I told them my height, and asked if a particular bike would 'fit', they were very honest and said they recommended I spoke to one specific importer direct as one of the owners was a similar height to me and could advise me better than they could. So I was impressed with their straightforwardness, unlike some others.

Pay for your bike with a credit card.

This has legal protection in the event bike is not supplied or bike has major fault and supplier won't/cannot fix.

You can easily claim money back from credit card company

I couldn't see an ebike on that site under that brand and model number they were all conventional bikes. Pricing seemed fairly high under the Dawes brand for the spec offered. I think Halfords and Decathlon would provide higher quality bikes for the same money and you would have local setup and someone to go back to easily if any issues at least for Halfords. I don't have a Decathlon store close to me.

Evans have some decent offers at the moment with some very good reductions on some models, maybe you also have a local Evans store.

Got two bikes from them. Both were OK, all you had to do was align the handlebars and put pedals on.

Initially contacted them with questions about frame size and they were very helpful with a detailed response. On the wife’s bike this arrived with a broken mount for the LCD display, contacted them and they sent out a replacement immediately.

Last time I used them was in 2020 and they were good.
