Buying a new road bike

I am looking to buy a beginner road bike, I know the ones I am looking at are cheap but I need to know which one is the best out of my 2 options and WHY?

Option 1: Carrera TDF 16 speed (Halfords) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...0691&langId=-1

Option 2: Triban 3 24 speed (Decathlon) http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-3-...d_8239800.html

Thank you for your help

Imo the zelos at £250 is just as good. By the time you notice the impact you'll want a high end bike. Honestly the zelos is a perfect first bike which will then become a great winter trainer.

I'd use the stock wheels in winter and better ones in the summer

Don't forget to get a good lock if leaving it anywhere

If I can find a way to afford a boardman, would that be the recommended bike to buy. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...&productId=875985&categoryId=165710&langId=-1
If you can then yes. I have a Boardman Race which was my first road bike (and now winter bike). Very well built bikes and the Mavic wheels are bomb proof. Also, I have never had a puncture with those tyres. I can't comment on the groupset as mine came with Sora. I still find mine a pleasure to ride.

Both the Triban and the Carrera are excellent bikes for the money. The Boardman is much better though, I am on my second Boardman Road bike and absolutely love it to bits.
