I came across a post on Facebook Marketplace for an Alton Granite 24D T6061 mountain bike. The images within the post don't provide a lot of detail, which is typical of course, but I'm intrigued by what little I can see. I also like the price. Still, I'm a bit uncertain of the brand, and I can find absolutely no information online concerning "Alton" bikes. Even ChatGPT has no information about this brand!

So I turn to those within this forum who are more knowledgeable about these things than I. What do you think of this mountain bike? Would you buy it? Opinions? Suggestions?

A quick Google for Granite 24d bike brings up a good few results.

They look to be pretty basic and very heavy - 40lbs.

I suspect it's a low quality bike which has had some good parts fitted, the Shimano pedals and Maxxis tyres. The rest looks fairly unremarkable and basic, seven speed and unbranded suspension fork.
Probably made for sale in Supermarkets etc. You could buy something similar new for the same price from Walmart.
Why anyone would want to hump this all the way back from South Korea I can't imagine.
No I wouldn't buy it. Go for one of the bigger brands like Specialized, Giant, Trek, Scott etc, or buy new from Walmart for $250:

Definitely wouldn't buy it. Cheap suspension is rubbish and it's more like a bike shaped object than a bike.
Get a brand name bike second hand rather than that. And don't bother with suspension forks.
