Hi guys,

As the title says, which one is best?

My previous experience with the bwr, which I did between 14,000 to 19,000 (cocked up my figures when I got my garmin), was not pleasant. It was PITA from week 1 with drag, broken pawl covers and driver bearing constantly drying out.

My new Brompton I bought with 3 speed with the intention of coupling it with schlumpf....I may still do this but the 8 speed or bwr would give me enough gears now I'm fitter and stronger.

Thoughts?

In view of your previous experiences with the BWR, are you sure you want to get another one? That said, I've killed a SRAM DualDrive before (dealt with under warranty) and now have another bike with one, and I know someone who has wrecked Rohloffs...

I've had no problems with my BWR, although my perception (based on no evidence) is that it feels a bit more draggy than a standard AW.
I've not ridden an 8 speed SA, but I've done a 7 speed Nexus.
Once.
Once was enough.

Would give the BWR another try. Mine has been fine over four years of very stop start London commuting. Not a massive distance but up and down the gear range all time.
