Yeah looks good spec wise, if a bit *ahem* black

Check it'll take proper mudguards and if possible a rack for commuting (is that a 7 mile round trip or each way?)

You'll potentially want a rack for that if you've got much to carry so check compatibility

Best thing, go out and sit on the bikes and preferably a decent test ride, Evans good for that

I think we all know by now that you don't like black bikes vickster, but its not the case for everyone.

As for the OP what about a cx bike, something from norko or the pinnacle arkose

Someone was trying to talk me into a road bike today while watching Tour T Yorkshire go through Addingham.

Any suggestions for a decent road bike for the same price. I'll then trial a couple from Evans and see what I think.

Does it have to be from Evans, or is that just to get the testride?

This is what they have under £600 (excluding women's models)

This looks as good as specced as any, carbon fork, sora. Discounted so you'd need to confirm the C2W situation, only Evans sell Jamis in UK

far as that goes, i got my discounted quest through cycleschene from evans, no top up fee, free build, cant complain at all.
