Caad8 and Fulcrum 7s - did I do right?

I've just joined the CAAD brigade and bought a lovely 2012 CAAD8 for my winter bike after I realised my alu bike was too small (not by a lot but enough) and with the ride quality being so much better in a new bike it justified changing. I love it - much better fit, better ride, stiffer and faster than my 8yr old trad geometry one. It is closer to my Trek carbon in characteristics. I first tried a Giant Defy 2 and was amazed how much smoother that made the road feel but tall as I am I fitted the 61cm Cannondale better.

So on Saturday I picked up one of these. Since the wheels were unknown to me and I could not find a review of them I put on my Fulcrum 7s before I went out on it. Being black and red they don't match the bike, anything but and ride quality is far more important.

Though have I done the right thing?

I do wish manufacturers would end their liking of white handlebar tape.

Fulcrum & Campag wheels are excellent (got 5 Evos on one bike, Zondas on another). 7s are probably a bit lighter than the standard-fit jobs.

Nice bike. I'm one of those strange people that like white tape. Persevere with it and you might find that you grow to like it. I have white on my bike and it's not too difficult to keep clean.

I removed the decals from a pair of fulcrum racing 7's to make the wheels look a bit less crazy. They're just plain black rims now, and it goes with a blue and white bike.
