Sorry I missed this. But you could've headed out via E Dulwich, up to Crytal Palace, down Anerley Hill to Elmers End, and then into the quiet lanes around Biggin Hill and Knockholt. Then back in down Cudham lane, through Downe Village, back to Elmers End/Beckenham and then Penge and whatever it takes to get home. Pretty much THE 40 mile loop for SE London based roadies !

Cheers, I like the sound of that! I ended up going E Dulwich, Crystal Palace then zig-zagging/exploring locally. Not sure exactly where but included off-road, marathon plus-assisted Nunhead Cemetary and One Tree Hill?!! More like 15 than 40 but enjoyable.

Thanks again for the route, I'll do that next time

Another one that has just found your question and I hope that you had a good days ride wherever you went.If you are over near Biggin Hill again sometime you could also ride down Saltbox Hill turn left at the bottom and ride up the valley to Tatsfield where their is a great Cafe in the Reptile Centre where you can get a nice piece of cake and a cuppa before you ride back home.

I'm sure there's a GPSies or somesuch somewhere. Can't think how I'd find it though.

In the meantime, This is the age-old Dulwich Paragon Saturday morning newbie, hangover, and comeback-kid ride (in old-skool OS format) starting from Crystal Palace, and skirting round Tatsfield. There are of course, infinite variations once you've got your bearings, and it's a great starter to longer rides out into Kent, Surrey and Sussex. I tend to head off down Pilgrims Way (because it's such a fast and pretty country lane) and return via Starhill Rd near Otford.

Oh and Hondated. I once bought a Kawa GPZ750 from the motorbike shed at the reptile centre ! And my Mum used to live in Tatsfield - she was the one who got rid of the ducks from the village pond..!
