SRAM own a lot of different cycling brands, including RockShox , Truativ, Zipp, Quarq, Avid, Hammerhead and velocio.

They've also acquired the German brand Sach's, though I don't think they produce anything under that name anymore.

So does the old adage 'Shimano wears out, Campag wears in' still apply I wonder - ?

As far as I am aware Campagnolo is purely a cycling company.
Corkscrews, clothing and paraphernalia aside.

They used to make very nice alloy wheels back in the 1960’s and 70’s

When I started into cycling seriously in about 1976, Campagnolo was the king of the hill. Shimano was trying to get in, and Dura-Ace was very obviously a Campy Record knock-off, in everything except the name label. The manager of the bike shop where I was working wanted to do some special thing with a Campy chainring, getting something welded to the aluminum, and he took it to a welder in a nearby business, who, when welding to it, couldn't believe the quality of the aluminum, something he had never experienced. He was very impressed.

I read perhaps 20 years ago though that exchange rates and Italian regulations were making it hard for Campy to stay in the top of the cycling market, which is something Campy had no control over.
