Campsites Netherlands

Just booked my flight to Amsterdam for early May. Thinking of spending 2 weeks. I don't have any return travel booked yet.

Would booking campsites be advisable in advance or are there generally pitches available without booking.

Does anyone have any route recommendations from Amsterdam. Haven't booked any return travel yet so my final destination is open. Somewhere near a ferry port would be handy to finish up.

We have been to The Netherlands a few times usually just turn up at a campsite. Last year we did email some campsites the day before as we were there in August but we got in everyone we tried.
