Can I commute with a Carradice Super C saddle bag?

I like the idea of a large saddle bag instead of a single pannier as the weight will be central and higher up.

I am thinking of getting a Carradice Super C saddlebag from Father Christmas. Does anyone else have one? Will it take a laptop and work files or is it too small?

Do you support this extra large saddlebag on a rack or is the bagman quick release support suitable for the task?

I use a Super C single pannier with no problems. It's impossible to tell that you only have weight on one side, and i would have thought that having the weight higher up is not a good thing.

Neither, I have it on an SQR uplift bracket

My Super C has been in continuous use since 2005 and it now has a snapped leather strap that holds in the wooden pole, a hole at one end of the lid and needs reproofing. But I still like it a lot.

I love my "LongFlap", but I'd worry about carrying a laptop in it: too much bounce and bang for my liking. Carrying a laptop is the only reason I'd use a rucksack. Now, I have no evidence of laptop damage - just a worry!

Isn't the Super C the one you use to carry the dismantled bike in...? ;)

Should be fine sizewise - you may need to pad the laptop some though, as others have pointed out.
