Hi all you bad boy 700 owners! I've been thinking of getting that black beauty after testing it few times. Tires seem a bit narrow for my needs and I was planning to change them to e.g. 700x32. Does anyone have a real life experience about this sort of replacement? I know that the front fork is a very tight fit and all bike shops that I've asked this have said it's a big maybe.. Has anyone done this sort of modification?

Hi, I have said bike, its very good, last winter I swapped the 28's for Michelin Transworld Sports (I think) in a 32 mm size, it was more comfy but very squirmy when cornering (they were hybrid road/trail so I suspect a slick 32 would be fine, what I found was that though there was clearance the higher profile of the Michelin mean that there was limited clearance between the top of the tyre and the forks, ok on road but a pain if you decided to go through mud, I ran them for abotu 4 months and then went back to the slicks it came with, dont think I will change this winter, will see I suppose, I only changed as when dark its hard to see potholes and the slicks are very forgiving, was good in late Feb when I swapped back and went to more aerodynamic clothing, instant 2/3 mph average improvement.

Get one, you wont regret it.

Great, thanks J4CKO for the info! I was looking for more suspension and better traction since I'm not always cycling on asphalt.

Yes, you will get that but you lose a little clearance, but choosing the right tyres will help, I just bought 700 c. They are quite stiff bikes but you get used to it, I use mine on slicks off road, can be fun if its getting muddy, I am clipped in and the back wheel spins, managed to lie down in the snow last year in that situation.

I had to change the stem on mine, a bit low, changed the brakes for hopes as I had them and they are better, otherwise its standing up well, just a couple of broken spokes but I am quite heavy at 16 st and carry a fair ammount of stuff to work.

I have the said bike and run Spez all condition armadilos 25mm which I have found to be quite heavy but bullet proof. the contact point of the tire is slick with slight tread on the edges for water dispersion and cornering grip.

I did have the original wheels nicked so purchased some hand built Mavic Open pro's on Deore hubs. I also found the bars too low and run an Easton EA50 bar which I find is better.

I do love the bike and its pretty quick and looks the nuts to say the least.

The brakes are crap but do the job, I would rather have some Avids on there.
