A hired one in Spain and it was a very nice frame, full 105 and Askiums making it a great ride. Most companies skimp on one or more of these attributes to get the price down, they don't seem to :becool: Iirc you could get a full 105 equipped bike for 800euros (about £600).

Yes, I think their "entry level" bike is an Alu 105-equipped bike for just over 600 quid. Seriously good.

Have been looking at these and the Cube for the "maybe" next bike, compared to the Spesh I was looking at you get a whole lot more bike for your money. Only issue I see is that you cant test ride as you have to order direct.

They were on my shortlist for a roadie (mainly because they do a 66cm frame) but I gave up when I couldn't get to see on in the flesh.

Having looked at the canyon site I reckon you could buy in confidence as long as you were capable of carrying out the simple measurements detailed on the easy to follow guide.

I was speaking to a mate yesterday (he has always wanted a De Rosa) and I mentioned that Canyon had a carbon frame with Athena (with Mavic Elite wheels) for under £1700...the De Rosa equivalent (with Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels) is £1000 more expensive. He said he didnae like the Canyon graphics tho

They are very nice looking bikes. Saw one in real life a few weeks ago and it was impressive. ROSE look the business, too.

I did 750 miles on one a few years back and they are good looking bikes, pity about the rider ;)

But when they get the rider right, they get the colour wrong ;)

I too have been looking at the site too often. Will have to see what my compo comes out like, but there are some seriously nice bikes. Sizing is a bit odd though, and if I got stock, I'd have to change the stem as a minimum - not a big deal, but the Canyon Ultimate takes a huge 1 1/4 steerer - so has a specific Ritchey WCS stem - you can apparently order additional stems.

But Super Record and R-SYS SLR's for less than £4k or the Aero road with DI2 for about 5k with Cosmic Carbons. No brainer. Alu Ultimate and Ultegra Di2 for £2k.

I quite like the Katousha team colours - black with red tube sections.

Crikey, they are well spec'd for the money! Looking for a new bike at the moment circa £1500 and there's a lot of bike there - the Ultimate AL 9.0 is looking very good indeed.

Have to say though that there are sexier looking bikes out there at similar price (Kuota Kharma to name one). Looks shouldn't be important, but they are. Would really like to see this Canyon bike in the flesh.

Decisions to be made
