The Kyle of Durness ferry is up & running, there are no MOD exercises in May.

Back in York? Dunno - but maybe in a couple of weeks, punctures, weather, getting sidetracked and whatever else may come my way, permitting. Probable stopovers - Lairg, Inverness, Newtonmore, Dunkeld, Cramond, Innerleithen, Langholm, Appleby (Westmorland) & Leyburn - give or take. I might be nearly doubling my mileage for the year but my "posts per day" will be taking a hit.

Have fun everybody.

If you happen to be in Edinburgh during social hours and fancy meeting some fellow CCers, let us know where & when, and we will see what we can do ...

Thanks Telemark

I've a feeling that when I'm not pedalling I'm more than likely to be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Would be a bonus though.

Bye for now.

Hi Telemark

I've made provisional arrangements to camp @ the Edinburgh Caravan Club site on Marine Drive, Cramond on Tuesday 10th May. The following day I head for Innerleithen using Route 1, Princes St, The Mound etc. I can't, of course, say with any certainty what my times are likely to be however, if you feel it would be useful to have my mobile telephone number, just in case, let me know & I can send it PM!

ps I leave for Lairg tomorrow, Tuesday 3rd May.

I've heard very nice things about cycling up at the top of Scotland but haven't gone up there yet :bicycle:

Thanks mcshroom

You've been quiet lately - any more "long trips" planned?

I've been completely offline camping for a few days with the cubs. Touring wise I'm looking at Lochs and Glens North and C2C this summer - plus maybe a longer one in September

There is super bothy at Kearvaig about a mile east from Cape Wrath, towards Durness. I was on a hike up there but I seem to recall there is farm track to it . Right on a super bay, likely drift wood in the bay for the fire. The road to the ferry is not much more than at tractor track,

I was there last weekend, absolutely stunning, but rather breezy! ferry is £7.50 with the bike and there is a cafe called the Ozone at the light house with amazing home (?light house?) made cakes. One slab of cake and the hottest cup of tea you've every had for £3.80!
The views along the main land road are too die for.

Watch the ticks if go walking off the road. Me and a mate did the walk up from Ullapool several years back. No bother with ticks the whole way, but between Sandwood Bay and Cape Wrath got absolutely caked in them, both of us had long trousers on, but hadn't tucked them in.

Calling CC Ecosse - provisional plan to meet at Crammond Inn tonight! Have suggested 8pm, no reply yet.
He will text when nearing Forth Road Bridge ...
