There is no need for a car in Geneva.
It is a paradise for cycling (at least when compared to London).
You can hire a bike free by the side of the lake.

Any more than £60 for car hire is poncy.
And going on holiday to Geneva isn't!?

That'll only get you a Fiat Panda or 500. I near spat my teeth out when the Enterprise bloke turned up in a 500 and insisted it was in the category I'd hired. Still I got the mtn bike in and just wore sunglasses and a hat so no one recognised me.

I also partook in that sport that everyone else with an infeasibly small car does and parked it as far into the parking bay as it would go so you can't see it amongst the other cars and try to swing in to what you think is an empty space only to find a Noddy car sitting there.

I became instantly constipated when I discovered how much it cost to use the toilets at Basle station.

All my recent trips to Switzerland have been work in Basel and expensed, so I've not paid a lot of attention really!

I spent a week in September cycling across Switzerland. Got my credit card statement few weeks ago. Yes, I have had the most expensive meals. One bowl of pasta has cost me £25 in one restaurant.
