Ring 'em up and ask them to justify the price increase. Were they able to recover the costs of the damage to your car that the woman caused? If not then it will go down as your fault even though it wasn't ;). If they have got the claim down as non-fault for you, then if they don't restore your premium to an acceptable level, then tell them you'll leave as you've had much cheaper quotes elsewhere.

My Capri was all sorted and it is down as not my fault. I've already told them to stuff it - £750 for a £150 car?

well i just hope all you people who go for "the cheapest" car insurance don't come on here complaining that you got a crap service when you eventually need to use them ;)

So you'd be happy with your insurance premium going up 3x?

Kwik Fit have come up with the cheapest prices for me lately - get a discount on their garages aswell (MOT's and tyres etc).

Expensive isn't a good indicator of good service IMO. Aviva quite often gave me the cheapest quote and they are reputable.

no, but cost is not the "only" thing to look at when your arranging your car insurance.

you need to look at what each policy offers NOT just the price

PS: i didn't think anybody took their car to shoot fit these days !!!!!!

If they have what I want for a fair price - I'm happy to use them. My own experience of our branch is good. Car MOT'd for £35, no messing about, he even replaced an exhaust rubber for me for no charge. Some years ago I took a van in for a new tyre - they resecured the slightly iffy spare tyre bracket for me, again no charge. The other 'local' chain tyre garage are not so helpfull.

No, cost isn't the only factor, but as I say Aviva are very competitive and I presume they seem fairly hot on customer service. I wouldn't avoid someone like Aviva because they are the cheapest - seems daft.
