More than I do Alfasuds, well, maybe except for Chevettes. I saw a Mk2 Escort this morning for instance.

The Alfasud certainly was rustprone. It was also a very technologically advanced car way ahead of it's time whereas the MKII Escort was a 1950s relic even when it was introduced and also very nearly as rust prone as the Alfasud. But it was Ford so that was okay.

But that was then. Fast forward to today, how many rusty Ford Kas do you see and how many rusty Fiat Puntos? Fiat learned, Ford didn't really learn.

But it's fine really as peoples pointless outdated prejudices mean there are bargains to be had for budget conscious and discerning car buyer:becool:

How many Ford Cortinas, Escorts, Morris Marinas, Vauxhall Cehevettes, Rover SD1s, BMW 2002s do you see in the average day and I wonder what happened to them?

Most 70s cars were rustbuckets. The Italian and Japanese car industry sorted their rust problems out, the British car industry didn't and cars like the MKIII Golf and bug eyed Merc e-class show Germany haven't entirely got on top of rust protection either.

But Italian cars are still all rust buckets because some idiot down the pub said so.:rolleyes:

I owned a Fiat in the late 80s. Believe me, the Italians had not sorted their rust problems out.

They started galvanising bodies in the very late 1980s/early 1990s so yes, they did sort their rust problems. Find me a recent Fiat with any significant rust.
