Carbon or aluninium wheels for C2C (Lots of descending)

I'm doing the C2C (Seascale to Whitby) in June. With 4000 metres of climbing, there'll be a lot of descending. Last year I had a carbon wheel de-laminate on me going downhill on quite a steep hill. My question is, should I stick to carbon for the event or switch to aluminium?

I wouldn't use Carbon hoops outside of a TT / on a track. Any road event, where out and out speed wasn't critical, I'd play it safe and go for Aluminium.

Aluminium alloy please. Two helpings, front and rear.

Go for carbon. Maybe this time the laws of physics and principles of material science will make an exception for you. After all, you will save some weight.

If it's wet why not use steel, that'll get your heart rate up for the next climb.

Unless you have a specific requirement for carbon, then it's aluninium all the way. This post will tell you why.
