Just putting the feelers out
Lets say a 2k budget but include 1-3k as these questions always go both ways :banghead:
What would you buy ?

Whole bike or frameset. Have you got any good kit to transplant? What about wheels? Could swallow up most of your budget.

No kit to transplant but buying parts over time and waiting for good deals would hurt less and probably end up higher spec .

Building a bike, I am actually sceptical that you save money unless buying used parts, but you can spread the cost and get the spec you want

The Giant carbons get very good reviews, ditto Specialized Tarmac, or go less mainstream and look at Pearson, or Canyon or Rose if happy to risk non UK mail order

I wasn't really thinking of it as a money saving way to build the bike . More spreading the costs and picking up the odd deal now and then . Second hand isn't so bad if someone is upgrading their kit but then its always a bit of a gamble .
I have been looking at the Giant bikes ALOT

Has anyone asked 'what kind of riding you do?' or 'what your riding aims/objectives are for next year?' - that kind of stuff? Depending on the answers, the options could be very different.

I think 'carbon road bike' at £1K-£3K is enough information to get started with.
