Now there's a word you don't hear much today along with accumulator and Tizer
Through betting shops. I put a fiver on most weeks on an accumulator. Though not really Pools. Near enough the same. Home, draw or away.Do football pools still happen?
Accumulator I hear a lot. Tizer less so. Carboy.. never. What is Carboy?
A carboy is a big bottle in a wire cage used for storing bleach and the like, the accumulator is/was a huge battery thatI would take to the garage where they would charge and they also sold Tizer.
Yeah but that film only came out in 2010. Carboys have been around for a bit longer.+1
MInd you I had never heard of catfishing beyond the angling context, before I saw the BBC web site this morning.![]()
It's not a word I ever hear in the lab. We would just call it a bottle. A lot of the old terminology seems to be on the way out though.Work in a lab, still hear it from time to time. Can't say I've ever heard it anywhere else though.

Last time I handled a carboy was when I collected one full of distilled water from Boots' the chemist. The distilled water was used at locations where the local tapwater was considered unsuitable for topping up secondary cells.A carboy is a big bottle in a wire cage used for storing bleach and the like, the accumulator is/was a huge battery thatI would take to the garage where they would charge and they also sold Tizer.
