Giant has lock out front sus, Subway doesn't have any front sus.

Giant has Hyd disc, Subway has cable.

For me i would go for the giant, but it really is dependant on you rides.

Have you been on them?

If your commute is only 6 miles then i would have the giant.

Lock the front for the road tho.

I wouldn't. Pointless having front suspension (even locked) and the hydraulic brakes are potentially more of a faff and unnescessary for a short commute.

Join britich cycling and get a further 10% off the Subway too.

I have a Subway by the way.^_^ The non steel forks can be a little unforgiving at times but it's a fantastic bike for the money. Done 100+ mile rides on it, commuted in crappy weather etc.

They stock tyres are extremely heavy though and I swapped them, however for 6 miles you will be fine.

By the way, don't think of the Subway being normally £400. It's a typical Halfords ploy to set the price of the Subway's high and then offer massive discounts.

+1 on that.

My subway is an ace bike, and I'm very pleased with it. Its a comfy 'hop-on & go' bike, mountain bike-y enough for trails etc, but not so much that it hampers you on the road.

Also, it seems bombproof. Its up and back to work everyday left out in all weathers and its never let me down in nearly 3 years ( though I'am now about to change the cables, but they do still work well!).

Whilst I doubt anyone has ever bought one for £400 (I certainly didn't) its a hell of a bike for sub £300, and from what you've said I doubt you'll get any more value/benefit from the Giant (though it will be the 'better' bike).

Still, if your more drawn to the Giant and can afford it, then crack on.. Its a matter of the heart too lol
