Have had two scary moments on Chelford road in Cheshire, its a fast, straight A road and the worst bit of my otherwise pleasant 7 mile commute from Wilmslow to Knutsford, first one a Subaru Impreza overtaking a line of traffic off a roundabout that I was approaching, moving to primary and he just moved out and I had to get out of his way, or die, horribly !

Second was yesterday, from the other end some cock in an Audi had to overtake another car regardless of another vehicle coming the other way,i.e. me, he squeezed his car between the one he was overtaking which was near the white line and a worried looking cyclist with nowhere to go, he saw me but went anyway, accelerate from say 45 to 60 passing me with perhaps two/three feet to spare.

Do they not realise how agressive their maneuvers are, how alarming it is for somebody to have that happen, Subaru bloke I see quite often, thinking he is Colin Mc Rae, he came off the same roundabout sideways, all four wheels spinning, I really hope he manages to put it in a field.

Then ther eis Punto woman, every day, on a single track road she jumps out of her skin to see me coming the other way, going to fast, she has locked her wheels twice in panic, it has 15 mph signs everywhere, I am going to stop her one day and suggest that she should use the main road, why she use this one god knows ?

Or the X5 drivign school run mummy that overtook the school coach whilst I was the other side of it coming through the other way.

In a word, no.

You have to remember, these are all very good drivers and they're only exercising their right to get wherever they are going as fast as possible. How could that possibly be aggressive?

Idiots. Let's hope, like you say, that they take themselves out without taking someone with them...

Can you not go via Morley Green from Wilmslow then Cheshire Cycle route to Mobberley and Knutsford?

I realise you shouldn't have to, but it is would make for a very nice commute, especially as the lighter nights approach.

The only bad bit is Ollerton to Booths Hall - I used to do it - I also know the single track - I used to use it, as it made a change - this Punto woman should know better.

As for these idiots overtaking...sheesh..... the Scooby driver is what the cops deem as 'high performance car, low performance driver'......

Had another one on CHelford road today, some big off roader, Mitsubishi or something, came off the roundabout, hoofed it past another car causing me to scuttle back into secondary, was moving into primary to turn right.

I really hate this as if I hadnt been watching or distracted I would have probably got splattered, can you imagine if I pulled onto the wrong side of the road to overtake something and there was a car coming the other way, they would make a right fuss, flashing, beeping, shaking their fists but its ok apparently if you are smaller !

Cheadle, where is this Cheshire cycle route, had a look on the map but couldnt see anything ?

Cheers Cheadle, will give it a go, I have kind of avoided Burleyhurst lane as its a bit of a fast cut through for the discerning Caynenne, X5 etc driver but I need to try alternative routes, I go to Booths park so before I get to Knutsford I can cut up through the Longridge estate at the turn near the Bentley garage.

Might go via the cyclepath to just before the airport tunnels (watching for low flying premiership footballers) and cut down the side of the runway and come out at mobberley.

I think whatever way I go I have a fairly agreeable commute compared to what some have to deal with, I suspect our London friends may consider it a doddle !
