Photo of 'dear little Richard' is smugness personified. As the police would say to a someone verbally threatened with violence- until an offence has been committed they can't act- hope the taxpayer doesn't have to pay for protection.

Just to add that the saying "not enough room to swing a cat" came from the canals, and it came from when they were trying to turn the long barges round in the basins, the barge was known a s a "cat" and if the basin was not big enough or the driver did not have the skills he would not get it round and so the saying "Not enough room to swing a cat" , by the way Captain Cook was an expert at swinging cats.

I wonder if officer Dibble has been assigned to the case?

Interesting, also attributed (as with letting the cat out of the bag) to Naval slang and the Cat o' nine tails

In a small ship with the entire crew on deck to witness punishment it could be cramped and hence there was no room to bring the cat back for fa full strike - no room to swing a cat

Fantastic quote from one of his friends

''Animal cruelty is worse than murder at the moment, it is happening all over."

It was a nasty thing to do. But why is it that we get so worked up about this, yet the mindless acts of violence committed against other people every day barely warrant a mention? They certainly don't make national news.

That they were on CCTV means it can be visualised and that (very likely after public outrage) they'll get caught. This is the third such recent example I can think of - the wheelie bin cat, the MP's cat stolen (sadly never to be seen again) and now this.

It's not that it is the worst case ever (far from it), just that they have got caught. Cats get their heads smashed in with boots, shot at, mutilated every month around the country, it's just that the perpetrators rarely get caught. People have these things happen much more regularly.
