I just read, on the "crazyguyonabike" pages - the Leeds-Liverpool canal trip that you made - you passed about 200metres from my house

I have often considered pedalling to Leeds, but the thought of dogs on the towpath, and the possibilities of ankle deep mud always put me off

Anyway, thanks for your marvellously evocative diaries on that site

Glad you enjoyed it!!! I'm not sure i'd recommend the trip - we're really glad we did it and there's a great sense of achievement whenever we see the canal...but it was pretty uncomfortable!! No issues with dogs though.

Wish I'd 'known' you then...we could have popped in for tea
