Post the padlock key first. Buy a platform ticket, lock the bike in and on a designated train. Doc does the same in London, unlocks the bike and Robert's your Mother's brother.

I would have thought you could send a folding bike pretty cheaply by courier.

I sent my 58 cm road bike back from Penzance to Yorkshire for under £10, though that was a few years back.

Hmm - I just guessed the size and weight of the folded bike and the quote from Parcel2Go was still under £10!
