I didn't take any photo's but did shout a bit. Helen looked to be going very well (was stood just after the big hairpin).

Ah, so it was you who was shouting, Helen heard someone shout her name and assumed it was Fossy. She actually had a bad day, lost her number before the start, had to ride round a slow car near the finish which cost her a place. Very unhappy with her 11th place, we don't know what went wrong yet, lots of stuff to analyse and work through, hopefully she will see actually what a great achievement it was in the days to come. Anyway she says thank you to all who sent goodwill messages.
Always next year.

I sorry that Helen was disappointed, but when you think about it - 11th best in the country is a pretty strong placing to build on for next year.

thanks for the link and the comment.

i would encourage you to give time trialling a go; it's esoteric, slightly barmy, at times really painful, but often euphoric and addictive.

if you love cycling, then racing easily fits within that compass.

Yes, brilliant blog by Paul and not a bad ride either. There is a 40 min video taken at the half way point, the voice you can hear is that of David Harmon, Helen appears at 9.54.
