Hi all,

Any advice, with the problem of my cycle chain that keeps coming off, usually when i am accelerating, in a high gear, (i.e : Large front chainring, and small rear outermost cog,) mainly seems to happen when i need the extra power on a roundabout !, viewing the chain from the rear it seems to be out of line to the right slightly, when in highest gear, is this simply cable tension or the limit screw needs adjusting ? Rear Gear is Shimano 105.

Advice appreciated , Thanks.

Set the limit screws first then adjust the gears using the barrel adjuster on the rear mech. I'd put it in to a middle sprocket to do that - 4th or 5th. Also worth making sure the limit screws are set correctly on the front mech while you're at it: make sure it's not overshifting and unshipping the chain.

As Uncle Phil says. Worth checking the chain for stiff links or nicks, which can cause it to unship. Also, check chain stretch (simple tool required). If it has stretched then replace it.
