Changing to lower gear problems

Just wanted a bit of advice re setting up my gears better

I set them up myself and while they aren't bad when going into a lower gear (from smaller to larger sprocket at the back) sometimes I get half a turn of the pedals before it changes meaning a loss of cadence/rhythm which is bad for inclines

When going the other way from larger rear sprocket to smaller sprocket the shifts are smooth and there's no issues

I also always try to 'soft pedal' to smooth the shifts but the above remains

Any ideas why it's only occurring from going high to low gear?

You could try a tiny bit of adjustment, to increase tension in the cable.
Yup sounds like a bit of cabble stretch to me ,
stand behind the bike and turn the barrel adjuster 1/4 turn counterclockwise towards the wheel then change gears a few times, repeat untill its crisp both ways and if you over correct just turn the adjuster the other way .

Cheers chaps, thinking about it I think its only become more noticeable as more miles have gone on so cable stretch sounds a good bet as I'm sure when I set them up they were fairly slick

Will have a tinker with the adjuster
