Chap who Punched a Police Horse

Barry Rogerson, the man who punched a Police Horse at a football match has pleaded guilty to violent disorder and has been warned by the judge to expect a custodial sentence.

This seems harsh to me, for the following reasons:

1. He claims that he was startled by the horse and his action was a reflexive, defensive one.
2. The only reason he had a scarf covering his face was that the recent loss of a tooth was causing discomfort when he breathed in cold air.
3. He is an animal lover and even has fish to prove it.
4. He is very poorly and is on sickness benefit due to a lung complaint that stops him working.

Surely only an extremely hard judge would punish this man any more than his obvious remorse is already making him suffer. How many of us haven't accidentally swung at a police horse while covering our faces with a scarf to prevent toothache?

I for one find his explanation plausible and I think he should be set free and thanked by the court.

Shame that the police didn't hit him with the baton a good few times.

Is this man myopicly challenged as well? He said he was startled by the horse, Unless the Police horse was a Shetland pony, he must of seen it standing there, or was the scarf covering his eyes as well?

Occasionally it's very satisfying when someone tells a lie so blatant that everyone sees through it!
This one is my 2013 winner so far - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-23449261

Punch a horse = prison
Kill a cyclist = communication service
What a strange world we live in!

Without making light of the fact that a cyclist was killed; was the person responsible sent to work in a call centre then? I would think that is far worse than any prison!

Shame that the police didn't hit him with the baton a good few times.
Or better still, pity the horse didn't manage to get a few swift kicks in.
