In short, no.
16850s are a completely different size than AAs, they wont fit in the same slot. Also they're 3.7 volt, not 1.5 so your torch probably won't take it.
Shame because the extra power 16850s have is really noticeable.
I run a 2x 1 watt cree setup on 4x 16850s and the power output is striking...and the stamina is awesome, they last for hours.

Thanks for that Gaz (isn't it?) looks like I'll have to get a torch that will take these batteries.......

No ..its Colin.
Funnily enough, i just brought a Cree 3W torch from maplins today, i actually want it for work, working in poorly lit areas in machines, but i can see if you can get the right mount, these would be really quite good...

Looking at the reviews further down the page, they get quite a good write up. The beam is very good. Comes with two 16850 batteries, one in the torch, one spare, a charger, pouch and torch. Double click the switch you get flashing mode, although its very 'strobey' and may be a bit much for oncoming, but the main beam is really very good considering the battery in it may not even be fully charged,
Not much of to go on, ive only just got it, and you'd need a handlebar mount, but it looks a good deal.

Just been playing with it again, full power, strobe and a 30% power mode as well.

What batteries/charger do you have?

If using rechargeable AA, you should be getting 500 to 1000 recharges per battery, I use mainly vapextech and a computer controlled charger which charges each battery individually but also test the batteries regularly for capacity to ensure they are well treated.
