I am a regular user of the Cheshire cycleway .
And since the thaw after boxing day .
Whilst cycling In cheshire .
The roads and lanes ,have become very bad with POTHOLES gouges ruts and very uneven surfaces .
In daylight Its easy to take evasive action .
But coming back In the dark ,Its a real dangerous hazard .
So BEWARE .

A colleague saw me coming into Manchester on the A34 (Anson Road) last week. They asked if I had spotted them ? (in the car) and I said "no, I was concentraiting on the traffic'. They responded 'I could see you weaving round all the pot holes'...... Great !

Your a brave man cycling along the famous A34. At anytime . ( "I would wear a bullit proof vest cycling there") And some early warning collision Radar.................... Worse In the Peak rush hours .

Especially Anson road ,Birchfields road. It seems to narrow Into a bottleneck. If you are coming from Dickenson rd upto what I call the MAGIC Roundabout At Molesley road . No matter which lane you get In . The Nutters cut you Up. And Its very dodgy turning to go left to Kingsway to the next major roundabout. I lived In this area on Meldon Road and worked at Culvers In the seventie's. And witnessed lots of accidents Here, over the years .
This Is a Bermuda Triangle area .

Hope you all take care commuting .

When we moved to Spain over 10 years ago, things were very different, the increase in traffic has been explosive and with that has come the stricter enforcement of the drink/driving laws.
10 years ago a 5000pst note in the licence when pulled over usually did the trick. Either that or they would sit you in the back of their car for an hour and check you again, until you were below the limit.

I add at this point that I do not in any way condone d&d, and have never done it myself.

The relevance to this post is, for the first 12 months we used to laugh at drivers weaving all over the road, at all times of day and night.

Then we realised, they weren't pi$$ed...............they were avoiding the potholes.

If you think you have it bad there, you want to try getting off the main road over here.

What is the opposite to a pothole, where the rocky, gravelly base of the road is peppered with bits of tarmac sticking up........

footnote. D&D is a lot less now, thankfully.............

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Had a double fairy visit 2 days ago because the council are repairing the potholes, they dug a square out around it then left it over night with no bollard.

Over the hole at full speed in the dark and bang !! , spent ages changing the tyres in the cold only to find the valve want long enough for the rim
