There are a few pawn sites here and there to check out...folk bashing the bishop, queens and plenty of 'rooky' but apart from those...

I think a young Swedish? chap is destined to be the next super grand master or whatever the world champion is - he lost to a Russian last week.

There are lots of chess servers where you can play. Some are free and some not. I play on PlayChess mostly as a guest (free). Lots of people play on Chess Cube, ICC, FICS and Chess.com. The problem you may have is that you will probably lose most of your games for a while and it might get demotivating. Stick with it though and you will get better fast!

If you want to see what a load of geeky chess players get up to on their forum check out http://www.ecforum.org.uk/ . They bicker more than we do on here

I use the Sparkchess site (likewise after a 35 year break) - it's free online or you can download the software for £5 odd and the service is very quick and friendly (Romanian I think).

There are 3 basic levels - starters where you can win most of the time, intermediate some of the time and advanced -never.

I just like the layout so have a look at others that may suit.
