Has anyone got any experience of buying \ using one of these systems for their club ?

Was thinking about the next step for our club and a chip timing system would make sense.

A list of things it must do are the following

1. Be able to time across a public road, so no mat allowed.
2. Chips must be reusable.
3. System should be able to pump out data to a standard laptop.

Anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks Ivan

Expensive for a local club and afaik, no system is reliable or accurate enough without a mat or archway.

The chips are standard for events here in Italy. But, there is an acceptance that a timing mat will be used on public roads. Frequently, the main road in the town is closed for the start / finish. The timing system is not owned by the clubs, but rented by the organisers and you pay to hire a chip for the event.

We also use them in the LVRC league, we have about 100 transponders, strips are laid across the road and is connected to a laptop.
Believe the price is about £80 per transponder to replace.
