This is where it gets utterly dysfunctional: a solution to traffic pollution, i.e. cycling, becomes more dangerous, forcing a greater reliance on the car and adding to the problem. This was also evident with Traffic Flow London's obsession with getting cars and trucks along choked roads faster to the expense of cycling security. Similar problem, same reaction of deterring the solution.
Meanwhile, I don't suffer from asthma and my legs give way before my lungs but my hours driving in London are giving me a deteriorating throat irritation. I'm coughing my way along the South Circular.
