Cycling in the sun

Its not been posted elsewhere and yes I saw the sad news yesterday. I never met him, but did follow his blog (Green Bristol Blog). I didn't always agree with him but you have to admit he was active in cycle campaigning locally. He was often one of my first sources of information locally whether it was about the 20 mph zones or getting stuck in about the stupid phasing of the lights at Zetland Road junction (which I hear have been improved in the last week). He seemed to know lots of interesting routes and was prepared to put his money where his mouth was and went out and gritted the streets rather than just moaning about it.

And I gather he was involved in the creation of the Bristol and Bath cycle path - and very opposed to the idea of running the bendy buses along it.

I think Bristol will miss him and his campaigning.

He certainly provided a useful counterpoint to the council spin on Bristol as a cycling demonstration town.

A sad loss indeed.
